Ole Blue Joinery is a family owned business established in 1993 by husband and wife Shane and Dorothy Mills out of their home in the Lower Blue Mountains. The genesis for Ole Blue Joinery came from Shane realising it was time to put into practice everything he knew how to do best. With a few contacts in the industry, most of whom had witnessed Shane’s quality of work and strong work ethic, he was able to get the start he needed.
Six weeks after opening Shane decided to move the business from the family home and into factory premises. After a few months and many long hours, Shane felt it was time to take on a 1st Year Apprentice. Coupling Shane’s skilled guidance and the apprentice’s willingness to learn resulted in a first place standing in the apprentice’s TAFE course. Ole Blue Joinery gradually grew and two more apprentices started, both of whom also performed extremely well in their TAFE courses.
Ole Blue Joinery had many contracts, including high end, complete fitouts for clients such as Solicitors, Doctors/Dentists, The NAB, Pizza Hut, Liquorland, KFC and Ashley and Martin to name a few. Quality kitchens and individual furniture pieces were also completed. Shane has now decided to scale back to offer a more personalised service and to keep a tighter rein on quality control, two things he feels are needed for a satisfied client. He now builds everything himself from a small joinery workshop in Penrith NSW.
